Shoppers watched drama unfold as a number of police cars were called to Canterbury city centre this afternoon.
Officers were restraining a woman outside the high street's Superdrug store.
Witnesses saw the woman shouting as officers held her back, while a shirtless man was searched a few metres away at the Canterbury Lane taxi rank.
He was then taken into a police car and driven away.
Passersby, near to the outside area at McDonald's and the high street market, watched on as police dealt with the incident.
The patrol vehicles were at the scene before from 12.45pm and left a short while later.
Police say a 48-year-old man was taken into custody following a report of a restraining order breach.
