A police dog sniffed out a suspect hiding in a garden - as officers probed a knifepoint robbery.
Detectives had been called to Margate after a blade was held to a man's throat before his car was stolen last Wednesday evening.
They were led to the Canterbury area, where the suspect was spotted inside the vehicle.
Investigators approached in a police car, but they were reportedly rammed as the person inside ran away.
A police spokesman said: "Police dog Eli worked with his handler to search the area, where he sniffed out a 26-year-old man from Margate laying down in the garden of a property in Sturry Road.
"He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and has since been released on police bail until November 10."
Officials have confirmed that detectives are continuing to carry out their enquiries into the incident.
