A man has been arrested after numerous police cars and a helicopter were involved in chasing a suspected stolen vehicle across east Kent. He has now been charged.
The incident was sparked shortly before 10am yesterday after a Peugeot failed to stop when requested by officers in Jubilee Road, Worth, near Deal.
The car had been reported stolen from Wincheap, Canterbury, sometime between Thursday, December 29, and yesterday.
The pursuit through several villages was witnessed by many residents who commented on social media as the vehicles sped past.
Posting on Facebook, one person said they had seen police chasing the car going "flat out" through Wingham.
Another said: "They just zoomed past me going towards Wetherspoons at the top of [Canterbury]."
A police helicopter was also scrambled to track the Peugeot which was finally brought to a halt in Field Avenue in Sturry, some 14 miles away from Worth.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences and remains in custody.
