A police helicopter and dogs unit searched for one of Kent's most wanted men on Monday night.
Officers scoured the Villiers Road area of Canterbury, after receiving a tip-off that a wanted man had been sighted there.
He was wanted in connection with a series of thefts that have taken place across the city, Deal and Sandwich.
A police chopper was seen searching over Canterbury, while sniffer dogs were seen in the vicinity of the former Howe Barracks.
No arrests were made on the night, but police say they are no longer trying to trace the man.
