Police officer assaulted as disturbance broken up in St George’s Street, Canterbury

A police officer was assaulted as arrests were made during a disturbance in a high street.
The ruckus occurred in St George's Street, Canterbury, last night.
Police were called out at 8.25pm following reports of the trouble and two men and two women were arrested on suspicion of assault.
A police spokesperson said: “An officer was assaulted during the arrests and one of the women was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.”
No serious injuries were reported and the four suspects remain in custody today while enquiries continue.
