The remains were found in Kemberland Wood by a passerby
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today on human bones found in woodland.
The skeletal remains were discovered by a member of the public at Kemberland Wood near Canterbury.
Police have been carrying out forensic tests at the scene - just off the A291 outside Sturry - for DNA, blood and signs of a disturbance.
Now a post-mortem test is to take place this afternoon in a bid to shed more light on the mystery.
Kent Police confirmed the remains had been at the site for "some time", but a spokesman was unable to give a timescale.
The remains are skeletal and it is understood the limbs had become detached from the torso.
Police are said to be still unsure of the body's gender and are treating the find as "unexplained".
Forensic teams were at the private woods, around three acres of which was taped off, on Friday after the grim discovery the previous day.
