Sections of A2 between Canterbury and Dover to be shut overnight in November and December for roadworks
16:00, 30 October 2015
Sections of the A2 between Canterbury and Dover will be closed at night throughout November and December to allow for roadworks.
Highways England is repainting road markings and replacing bridge joints.
Its asset manager Kevin Bown said: “We understand that there are a lot of closures taking place. However, it is essential that this work takes place for safety reasons.
“We have decided to undertake the work overnight when traffic levels are at their lowest and in sections to keep disruption for drivers to a minimum by keeping as much of the carriageway open as possible at any one time.
“We have also combined other necessary work into these closures wherever possible.”
The A2 will be closed from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday only, as follows:
- November 2 to 3: London-bound Patrixbourne to Harbledown. Diversions via the A2050, Rheims Way, A28 and the A257.
- November 4 to 6: coast-bound Harbledown to Patrixbourne. Diversions via the A257, A28, Rheims Way and the A2050.
