Star Wars hero visits Herne Bay as sci-fi festival takes shape
11:31, 24 January 2013
Strange sightings are common enough in Herne Bay – but Star Wars creations hanging out at the Reculver Towers? Something must be going on....
A familiar figure – our sources insist no photoshopping has been done – was spotted near the historic towers.
Gerald McCarthy from the Bay Promo Team said: "Apparently C3PO was doing a little reconnaissance mission in preparation for a sci-fi event in June.
"R2D2 was in the boot, asleep. Someone also mentioned that the forts at sea have recently looked suspicious too..."
The dad-of-three is behind plans for a major science fiction festival in the Bay this summer, after the success of last year’s Zombie Crawl.
He said: "We’re pleased to say that preparations are going well, we have actors that have made appearances in various sci-fi films coming along too.
"Michael Henbury, who played an Ewok in Return of The Jedi and also Greengot in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, will be joining us.

"Sam Westbury, a prop maker on the film The Phantom Menace will be assisting, Ken Coombes, an actor who’s appeared in films ranging from Indian Jones & The Temple of Doom, Star War to Goldeneye will also be attending.
"The list is growing almost daily. So make sure people keep Father’s Day, June 16, free this year – at last a Father’s Day present dads from all over will appreciate!"
