00:00, 08 November 2001
FIVE teenagers have been charged in connection with a series of arsons and vandalism in Canterbury said to have caused damage estimated at £200,000. Four are juveniles aged between 16 and 17 and the fifth is an 18-year-old student.
The offences relate to fires started at Canterbury College and the Kent Institute of Art and Design in June in which a mobile classroom containing students' end of year stage costumes was destroyed and two vehicles set alight during a two week period.
The teenagers are due to appear before Canterbury magistrates on November 16.
