Thousands of roof tiles stolen from Garlinge Green near Chartham

Thieves have made off with 7,000 roof tiles from a house near Chartham.

Scaffold fittings and a wheelbarrow were also taken.

The theft, which took place in Garlinge Green between August 16 and 25, is the third report of tiles being stolen in the Canterbury area this month.

A crate containing 200 roof tiles was taken from Canterbury Christ Church University on August 4, and around 100 slate tiles were taken from a building in Shalmsford Street, Chartham on August 10 during renovation works.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and asking residents to be vigilant.
