The touching moment between a zoo boss’ daughter and gorillas she’s known all her life has been captured on camera.

Damian Aspinall, who is the chairman of The Aspinall Foundation which manages Port Lympne near Hythe and Howletts in Canterbury, shared the footage of his daughter Freya with the apes.

In the clip the 20-year-old sits with the gorillas and hands them treats while in their enclosure.

Freya, who is a conservationist from London, has known silverback Kifu, 36, and Tambabi, 35, since she was born.

Both apes live in Howletts Wild Animal Park, which John Aspinall, Freya's grandfather, founded.

The sweet interaction comes after Freya built up decades of trust with Tambabi and Kifu.

She and her father are the only people who are able to interact with the gorillas like this safely.

Howletts Wild Animal Park said: "This type of interaction takes years of trust, love and respect.

"Nobody other than Freya or Damian enters their enclosure with them.

"[Building this trust is done via] No tricks, no shortcuts, just years of love, mutual respect and trust.

“Freya has been around animals in this way since she was a baby.

"Animals are honest. If the gorillas didn’t want to interact with Freya and Damian they would let them know with their body language before they enter the enclosure."

This is not the first time the conservationist has shared adorable videos of wild animals.

Earlier this month he posted a video of two lion cubs, who he had hand-reared after their mum died after birth, which had recently moved into an enclosure at Howletts.

In the clip, Zemo is having a ride on his back before Zala jumped up at the pair.

Last month he also shared footage of a gorilla taking Damian’s cap off his head before putting it on herself backwards.
