Travellers who pitched up behind a Sainsbury's supermarket have left after council officials served a court summons on them.
About a dozen caravans set up yesterday in Canterbury's coach park off Kingsmead Road, which is used everyday by tourist groups.
The group were running of the risk of facing two years behind bars or an unlimited fine due to Canterbury City Council's recently-acquired enforcement powers.
Enforcement officers have issued the travellers with a notice to leave and secured a court hearing for this morning in case the group remained on site.
The council says it will continue to monitor the situation as the day progresses.
