Two cars crash off New Dover Road in Canterbury near Waitrose and Premier Inn

A woman has been taken to hospital after two cars were involved in a crash at a busy junction.

Police are at the scene of the collision in Upper Chantry Lane, Canterbury, near the traffic lights by Waitrose and New Dover Road.

A grey Vauxhall Corsa has a crumpled bonnet, while a red Hyundai appears to have crashed into nearby railings, with the airbags in both cars deployed.

Barriers surround the scene of the crash and police are at the scene - but traffic is running smoothly and has not been affected.

The two cars were still at the scene as of 9.30am today.

It is understood paramedics were in Upper Chantry Lane earlier this morning.

A spokesman for the force said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a two-vehicle collision at around 8.30am today.

"Officers attended the scene in St George’s Place, Canterbury, where a woman sustained an injury and was taken to hospital as a precaution."
