Two men in hospital after ‘racially aggravated’ attack near Westgate Gardens in Canterbury

Police were called to reports of a racially aggravated assault which left two men in hospital.
A teenager and a man have been arrested in connection with the attack near Westgate Gardens in Canterbury at about 9.25pm on Wednesday.
Witnesses on social media reported hearing racial slurs being shouted at two men.
The interaction then “turned physical” and the victims were attacked.
Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and making threats to kill.
Officers also arrested a 17-year-old on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and assault on an emergency worker.
Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
