Firefighters rescued two people from the River Stour in separate incidents in the early hours of this morning.
At just after midnight a car drove into the Stour close to the Wincheap Roundabout on the Rheims Way.
The driver, a man in his 20s, clambered out and climbed on to the roof, where crews wearing life jackets took him to safety.
Crews were then called to St Edmund’s Road off Stour Street at 1.20am, where a man had climbed over a wall next to the river and fallen in.
They helped him back over and he was taken away in an ambulance with a suspected broken ankle.
