Firefighters battle blaze at Canterbury Christ Church University accommodation, Lanfranc House

A faulty electrical appliance caused a kitchen fire inside student accommodation.
Fire crews were called to a blaze in Lanfranc House, Canterbury during the early hours of this morning.
The property belongs to Canterbury Christ Church University in the centre of the town, just five minutes from its main campus.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Two fire engines attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
“No injuries have been reported, and the cause is believed to be linked to a faulty electrical appliance.”
