Three vile predators who led a drunk young woman to a city centre car park and took turns raping her in a 50-minute ordeal have been given long jail sentences.

The vulnerable 19-year-old victim, who could barely walk, was taken to a car in Holman's Meadow in Canterbury and repeatedly attacked in the early hours of Friday, April 13.

Sali Amet, 23, of Preston Street in Faversham, Omer Engin, 24, of Hoades Wood Road in Sturry, and Salih Altun, 25, of East Street in Faversham, all pleaded guilty to rape and were sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court today.

Altun was given nine years and nine months for two counts of rape, and Engin and Amet were each jailed for nine years.

The court heard the victim had been seen leaving The Cuban bar in the High Street with two of the defendants.

They led her to Holman's Meadow car park, where both men raped her. They then fetched a third man, Engin, and invited him to do the same.

The men then took her back into the city centre and left her near Fenwick.

The attack was reported to police and following the review of CCTV and forensic analysis, Altun, Amet and Engin were identified and arrested.

Part of the incident was caught on CCTV, and a 10-minute section was played to Judge Heather Norton before she passed sentence.

At a previous hearing in May, which was simultaneously translated into Turkish, Altun admitted two charges of rape and Amet and Engin, one each.

The judge heard the victim remembered little of the attacks.

After the hearing, investigating officer Detective Sergeant Matt Banks said: "These three men preyed upon a vulnerable woman and then took advantage of her in the worst possible way.

"They separated her from her friend during the early hours of the morning with a plan to fulfil their own depraved sexual desires.

"Thanks to the cooperation of the nightclub and other local businesses, we were able to obtain excellent footage, which showed the men on the lead up to the attack. This material has been vital to this investigation and instrumental in their conviction.

"I would also like to thank the victim for her bravery, who has suffered a great deal following this ordeal.

"It has had a profound effect on her and her family.

"The support she has given us has helped bring these offenders to justice and I’m pleased to see they’ll serve lengthy sentences as a result of what they did."
