Parents are being warned to keep a close eye on their children, after further reports of a man acting strangely in Canterbury.

Police are investigating complaints that a man followed three youngsters as they left a park in Blean.

When two women walked towards the children, the man – who is believed to drive a silver van - is said to have turned and walked the other way.

Police spokesman Jane Walker said: “The children did exactly the right thing. They went straight home and reported what they saw to their parents who, in turn, reported it to police.

“A patrol officer has attended and spoken to each child and their family and we are making follow up enquiries with the information that they were able to provide.

“Unfortunately we don’t have a description of the man in question but if or when there are any developments and we’re able to give out more information, we will.”

Schools in the area including St Stephens Primary School, have since issued warnings to parents to remain vigilant.

The incident follows last week’s warning from police about a strange man who approached two girls aged 10 and 11 in Rough Common Road on June 6.

Witness Mike Spaul confronted the man, after watching him follow and attempt to grab one of the girls.

The previous week, a man was seen trying to talk to a young child at Wildwood in Blean.

Police are also linking several reports of a man approaching schoolgirls in Faversham.
