Police investigating the disappearance of a musician last seen almost five months ago have renewed an appeal for information as to his whereabouts.

Dan Venes, 32, from Canterbury, was last seen at about 6pm on August 14 in the College Road area of Margate.

His dad, Jason Joiner, previously told KentOnline that prior to his disappearance, Dan had been picked up at Sturry Railway Station by police due to concerns for his welfare.

He was taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate, but is believed to have left soon after.

Dan, who lives just off Sturry Road, was captured on CCTV in Margate a short while later – but has not been seen since.

Police have today renewed their appeal for information.

Det Insp Louise Murphy said: "Whilst it has been nearly six months since Daniel went missing, we have not given up hope of finding him and have been actively making inquiries to locate him.

"If anyone has any information that will assist us in our inquiries please call us."

Dan was 31 when he disappeared, but has since turned 32.

He is 5ft 9ins with a slim build and short, dark hair.

He also had a short beard when he was last seen, and was wearing a red and black checked shirt with black jeans.

A ‘Help find Dan Venes’ page set up on Facebook has amassed more than 3,000 followers since his disappearance.

Members of the group regularly head out to investigate reported potential sightings of Dan, but there have been no confirmed sightings of him since August 14.

Mr Joiner, from Swalecliffe, said in September that the talented artist and musician had not used his bank card since he went missing.

He urged members of the public to keep an eye out for his son and report any sightings to police.

“We’d love them to take a photo of him,” he added. “Just take a quick snap and then we’d know if it was him. I love him and I’d love him home. I miss him.”

He described his son – who has thousands of followers on Facebook pages exhibiting his art and music – as a “brilliant” guitar player and “a lovely, caring person”.

Anyone who has seen Daniel or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 14-1230, or use the missing person form on the Kent Police website.
