Whitstable boss Peter Nott will get an early opportunity to put one over former club Maidstone United following the release of this season’s fixtures.

Nott (pictured) spent nine years with the Stones as reserve team manager but was sacked just eight months into his reign as first team boss, after replacing long-serving duo Lloyd Hume and Alan Walker.

The Stones are the first visitors to The Belmont this season in Ryman League, Divison 1 South – three days after the opening fixture at Walton Casuals.

With a number of ex-Stones players also in the Oystermen’s ranks, it is set to be an intriguing first home game of the season.

"I want to win that game but I am not going to let my feelings spill into it," said Nott.

"The boys know how much I would like to win it but in football you move on and it’s just another three points – although it would mean a lot."

Among those who will face their old team are Keelan Mooney, Ashley Ulph and new signing Gary Mickelborough.

Not every former Maidstone player will be involved, though.

Nott added: "It’s a shame that the game has come so soon because it means a couple of the former players won’t be able to play. James Peacock is going to be suspended for the first two games of the season and Rob Lyall is unavailable."
