A young woman has died following a fatal crash which injured four others this morning.
Police shut the A2050 at Nackington, near Canterbury, close to The Old Gate Inn roundabout at around 4.20am, after a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta.
It comes following an accident involving one vehicle on the A2050 New Dover Road and officers have remained at the scene all day.
A young woman, 18, died at the scene while four others in the car were injured and taken to hospital.
Their injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A police spokesman said: "Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward."
The road, which was closed in both directions from the junction with Old Dover Road to the A2, reopened shortly after 5pm according to Kent County Council's Highways team.
Buses had been forced to divert as a result of the crash.
Stagecoach South East tweeted: "Due to an ongoing police incident between A2 slip road and New Dover Rd, all buses are unable to serve between Renville Cottage and Waitrose.
"Buses will divert along the A2 through Wincheap to arrive at Bus Station. Thank you for your patience."
