An elderly pedestrian has died after being struck by a van on the same road where a 20-year-old was hit and killed by a car last week.
The 79-year-old woman was hit by a Ford Transit Connect travelling along the A257 St George's Place in Canterbury at about 5.35pm yesterday.
Police have confirmed the pensioner was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, but was tragically later pronounced dead.
The incident happened near a pedestrian crossing outside the supermarket between Lower Bridge Street and New Dover Road.
A 20-year-old man was killed in the same area last Wednesday after he was struck by a Dacia Logan.
On yesterday's tragedy, a spokesman for the police said: "Officers from our serious collision investigation unit are carrying out enquiries and wish to hear from any witnesses."
Anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident, or of the vehicle involved in the moments before the crash, is urged to call detectives on 01622 798538, quoting the reference number HW/DJ/100/20.
