Herne Bay appoint Sam Denly as new manager to replace former boss Simon Halsey

Herne Bay have appointed Sam Denly as their new manager.
Denly, the older brother of former Kent cricketer Joe, takes over at Winch’s Field from
Simon Halsey, who was sacked almost three weeks ago.
Gavin Theze will be Denly’s assistant at the Ryman League Division 1 South club, with
Neil Brown serving as head coach.
Denly said: “I am obviously delighted to be appointed as manager of such a great club.
"For me it is all about professionalism, discipline, hard work, passion and football being
played in the right way and a group of players enjoying playing for the club and the
passion of that shirt.”
Bay chairman Trevor Kennett added: "I am very pleased that Sam, Neil and Gavin have
agreed to lead our first team in our second season in the Ryman League.
“I am really excited about next season. Sam is a leader, a great communicator and a
winner. Neil and Gavin are also winners and greatly experienced, so in my mind it is a
fantastic combination.”
Herne Bay, promoted as Kent League champions a year ago, finished a disappointing 19th
in their maiden Ryman League campaign.
