After extending his stay at Kent, Daniel Bell-Drummond believes the future of his home club is bright.

Bell-Drummond, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Tuesday, has joined skipper Sam Northeast and Matt Coles in committing their futures to the club at which they have come through the academy.

On Saturday, Bell-Drummond agreed a deal until the end of the 2017 season and celebrated with a match-winning knock in the Royal London One-Day Cup against Sussex on Sunday.

The opener, who made 81 in Kent’s last completed Championship match against Essex at Tunbridge Wells last month, said: “It’s been a good few days, agreeing terms with my home club. I’m looking forward to the future.

“Hopefully, the future is bright for everyone involved here.

“When you have all these guys with massive potential, plus the likes of Rob Key, who has achieved so much in the game, it’s pretty easy to look around and enjoy the atmosphere and want to be playing with these guys.

“The future looks bright and hopefully we can continue on our way.”

Bell-Drummond’s unbeaten 55 was his fifth List A half-century and took him past 500 career List A runs.

The opener has a bright future with England, according to Kent assistant coach Matt Walker, who said: “He’s an exceptional talent. He’s already a fine player and you can see his progression. He’s got a really high ceiling and he’ll certainly be in England’s eyes in the not too distant future.”

Bell-Drummond claimed Kent were “quietly confident” of qualifying for the knockout stages of the 50-over competition, adding: “I’m not too sure how it’s going to pan out, anyone is capable of beating anyone on their day. We’re trying to take each game as it comes.

“We’re in a tough group but we seem to be pulling out some good results so hopefully we can continue with that.

“The last three sides are difficult and brilliant one-day teams but we’re looking forward to the challenge and quietly confident we can go there and perform."
