It was another tough day at the office on Saturday for Canterbury who lost away to Guernsey Raiders in National League 2 East.
The game started with them under immediate pressure and Guernsey banging on the door from minute one, having an early driving maul held up over the line.
But after the goal-line drop-out, the Raiders were camped on the Canterbury line and, playing through the phases, the hosts earned a penalty they duly converted.
Canterbury then applied some pressure of their own, though.
They kept the ball in the 22 for several phases before an opportunist snipe by Tom Williams saw him score on his return to a starting shirt and Frank Reynolds put the visitors 7-3 in front with the conversion.
But as the game continued, it was Guernsey who dominated.
Playing the game inside Canterbury's half and creating opportunities, they raced ahead, as they added four tries to their total.
It was Guy Hilton, who began the response for the city club in the second half. He carved through to score out wide.
Ben Cooper then added another, profiting from Hilton's half break down the wing as their two top try scorers combined out wide. This score took Canterbury just 10 points behind.
But a couple of errors stopped promising attacks and, instead, it was the home team who scored the last try of the game.
And a pick-and-go Guernsey score took the final score to 34-17.
