Canterbury ease through

Canterbury 42 Exmouth 10
A smooth passage to the third round of the EDF Energy National Trophy was seldom in question as Canterbury dominated possession and ran in six tries at Merton Lane on Saturday.
If there was a criticism about this emphatic 42-10 victory it would be that the city club squandered as many chances as they converted into points.
While that may be uncharitable towards a determined but limited Exmouth side, the fact remains that the city club should have put the result beyond any possible doubt by half-time.
With a biting North Easterly wind at their backs they threatened serious damage to the visitors from the start but ended the first session with 23 points.
Canterbury continued to take the game to the visitors in the second half but to Exmouth's credit, they found the stamina and willpower to dominate the final ten minutes.
