Canterbury over-run Beckenham in Kent Cup
00:00, 08 February 2008
Canterbury 106 Beckenham 7
CANTERBURY ran in 16-tries to post an emphatic victory at a cold and breezy Merton Lane.
The National 3 League side made short work of their former London 2 League rivals to secure their place in the last four of the Kent Cup - a competition which they have won three years in a row.
A strong Canterbury side took 10 minutes to open the scoring against a determined Becks side, but once the floodgates had opened they remained open all afternoon.
The city club ran in another eight tries to go in 59-0 ahead at half-time and added another seven after the break to reach three figures and bewilder the scoreboard operator.
The sole Becks score came at 92-0 when an intercepted pass near halfway was ran in under the posts to draw one of the biggest cheers of the day.
Westcombe Park's National League 2 game at Wharfedale was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
