Canterbury City have named their new management team.

The Southern Counties East League side have appointed Chris Woollcott and Josh Hall as joint bosses.

The duo take over with the club in disarray following the departures of manager Clive Cook, his staff and entire squad who quit City at the end of last week after their relationship with the board broke down over late payment of wages and a budget cut.

A statement on the club's website on Sunday afternoon said: "Following two days of interviewing candidates the club is delighted to announce that Chris Woollcott and Josh Hall have been selected to take over as our new management team.

"The pair will start work immediately with the first goal being to put out a side in our league game at home to Deal Town on Saturday 28th December."

Hall has previously worked as a coach at Sittingbourne while Woollcott was part of Nick Gearing's management set-up in a brief spell at Herne Bay.

He has also helped coach Dover's under-16s and works for the Chelsea FC Foundation as an academy coach.

City, ninth in the SCEFL with 24 points from 17 games, were unable to fulfil last weekend's game at Tunbridge Wells because they were unable to raise a side.

The new managers have their first players in place with Liam Middleton and Declan Pearce joining on loan from Sittingbourne for the rest of the season.
