City to get rugger academy
00:00, 11 March 2004
A NEW rugby academy for 16 to 18-year-olds is to be set up in Canterbury, it has been revealed.
It will be run from September, in a partnership between Canterbury High and Barton Court schools, and Canterbury Rugby Club.
Those accepted after trials will study at either school and receive specialist rugby coaching six hours a week.
Rugby club officials are to meet Kent RFU representatives next week to begin preparations for the launch.
