CANTERBURY hockey club skipper Mel Clewlow scored one of the goals that helped England to a 3-0 victory in the opening Test of the four-match series against South Africa in Potchefstroom.
Clewlow’s goal, a 58th minute penalty corner, helped steady England’s ship after South Africa had dominated the early stages of the second half. England, who also featured Clewlow’s Canterbury colleagues Anna Bennett and Frances Houslop, had gone ahead through Leisa King from open play after 19 minutes. Sarah Blanks completed the scoring three minutes from time.
