Kent’s tour match against Pakistan ended in a draw after it was badly affected by the weather.

Days two and three were abandoned without a ball being bowled after 70 overs in the first. A deluge of biblical proportions looked like it would scupper any chances on day four but, after tremendous work from the groundstaff, they managed two sessions of play after lunch.

Pakistan struggled on the first day and were bowled out for 168 after some excellent bowling from Will Gidman. He secured his first five wicket haul for the club and ended with figures of 5-47.

Imam-ul-Haq was the pick of the Pakistan batters, hitting 61 before being trapped lbw by Gidman.

In reply, the home side reached 39-1 before bad light stopped play on day one. The rain then swept in to prevent any further play for the next two days.

When the match did resume on day four Joe Denly starred with the bat scored a fine unbeaten 113 in Kent's innings as they ended on 209-4.

He was well supported by Sean Dickson who made 74 before being caught lbw by Shadab Khan.

Kent travel to Glamorgan in their next match, which begins on Friday, for their third game in the Specsavers County Championship.
