Lydia Greenway has stepped down as the Kent Women’s team head coach.

The 33-year-old was appointed to the role in January 2017 and had two seasons in the job.

The former England and Kent batsman made 225 appearances for her country in all formats.

She last made an appearance in a Kent shirt in 2016 before taking up the role as head coach.

Greenway told the club’s website: “It was certainly tough because I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role, but more importantly I have enjoyed seeing the squad as a group of players, continue to develop and play some really fantastic cricket.”

Greenway moved into coaching following her retirement from the game and set up the Cricket for Girls initiative.

This season, Kent Women finished third in both the Vitality Women’s County T20 and Royal London Women’s County One-Day Championship.

Kent director of cricket, Paul Downton, said: “Lydia has been a hugely positive influence for Kent Cricket, as an Academy graduate, international player and more recently as Kent Women’s head coach.

“She will be sorely missed by Kent Cricket but goes with our very best wishes and will always be welcome back to her home county.”

Greenway will continue as managing director of Cricket for Girls and will also pursue further opportunities in media.
