CANTERBURY Hockey Club will have Europe very much on their minds tomorrow (Friday) when both the men and women compete in the Higgins Group PLC Indoor League finals night.
Billed as hockey’s ‘Big Night In’ the bill at Crystal Palace sees the men facing favourites Loughborough Students in their semi-final at 5.30pm while the women take on Clifton an hour later.
The tournament winners get the chance to represent Great Britain in next year’s European Indoor Championships.
Of the two Canterbury sides the women probably have the better chance of progress.
They have already beaten Clifton 3-1 in the group stages, and skipper Mel Clewlow is just delighted to have avoided Slough, who have knocked them out in the semis for the past two seasons.
Clewlow said: “Our aim is to make the final and if we do we feel we have a chance of winning it. Slough are a very good side but any side is beatable and last year there was only one goal in it.”
