Canterbury’s Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, will again play host to international cricket in 2016, it was revealed on Wednesday morning.

A year after the sole Test of the women's Ashes series was held in the city, England Lions will play two one-day games at the home of Kent cricket against their counterparts from Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Sunday, July 24, and Monday, July 25, respectively.

England’s under-19s will also take to the field for a limited-overs clash with Sri Lanka under-19s on Tuesday, August 16.

For the second time in three years Kent will begin their 2016 County Championship Division 2 season away at Worcester on Sunday, April 10.

The opening game of their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign will come at Beckenham when neighbours Surrey visit the County Ground on Sunday, June 5.

The NatWest T20 Blast South Group schedule stretches from May 20 to July 29, beginning with the visit of Somerset to Canterbury on Friday, May 20.

The depth of Kent’s squad is sure to be tested during the summer, with the 13-day spell from Sunday, June 26, to Friday, July 8, featuring four T20 Blast South Group games, two Championship clashes and just one rest day.

The first two games will take place at Canterbury but the remainder involve travel to Chelmsford, Taunton and Bristol.

Tunbridge Wells will host a T20 against Surrey and a Championship clash with Sussex in July while Beckenham will host a T20 with Gloucester and ODC visit of Surrey in early June, plus a Championship clash with Northamptonshire in September.
