Adam Rouse has been named in Kent's 14-man squad for Wednesday's Royal London One-Day Cup opener against Hampshire.

The wicketkeeper did not feature in the club's first two County Championship matches having seen 20-year-old Ollie Robinson trusted with the gloves.

He has plied his trade for the second team in the meantime, notably hitting an unbeaten century in the Kent-Sussex combined team's victory over Middlesex.

Discussing Rouse's earlier omission, head coach Matt Walker said: "He (Rouse) is a really big part of the group, he is professional, we love having him around and his skills are fantastic. In this instance, Robinson forced his way into the team with good performances at the end of last year and in pre-season, both had looked good, but Ollie played nicely in South Africa and unfortunately Rousey was short of runs."

"He is still very much part of our plans this season, it’s difficult when you have three or four guys competing for one position but it’s also a good thing having to make these decisions on who to pick."

Robinson's absence comes after he hit 143 to achieve his maiden first-class century in the win over Warwickshire, while there is also no place for Adam Riley on the back of his involvement at Edgbaston.

Dutch international Fred Klaassen, who signed for Kent in October, has been included alongside all-rounder Calum Haggett and spinner Imran Qayyum.

Matt Renshaw is in line to make his white-ball debut for the club, while interim skipper Heino Kuhn will be looking to build on his unrivalled 696 runs in last season's competition.

Harry Podmore remains in the attack after his figures of 8-123 against Warwickshire, as does Matt Milnes on the back of his impressive 5-115 in the same game.

Kent squad: Kuhn (Captain), Bell-Drummond (Vice-captain), Blake, Claydon, Crawley, Dickson, Haggett, Klaassen, Milnes, Podmore, Qayyum, Renshaw, Rouse, Stevens.
