Kent will do battle with Gloucestershire at Canterbury next Friday (August 29) for a place in the semi-finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Kent hopes of reaching a Lord's final have been dented as they will be without paceman Doug Bollinger and spinner James Tredwell for the quarter-final, which starts at 2pm at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.
Bollinger is heading home to Australia this weekend to prepare to play for the Hobart Hurricanes in next month’s Champions League T20 in India, while Tredwell will be on one-day duty in the England squad against India.
However, Kent assistant coach Matt Walker is backing his side to progress by maintaining their impressive one-day form. They will also have in-form wicketkeeper/batsman Sam Billings in their side, he currently boasts the best batting average in the competition at 119.00.
Speaking before the draw was made, Walker said: "We don’t mind who we get – it’s at home, we’re playing well and we are bound to get a huge crowd to support us. It’s going to be exciting."
Nottinghamshire face Derbyshire, Yorkshire play Durham and Essex host Warwickshire in the other three quarter-finals.
