FULL details of a redevelopment of Kent County Cricket Club’s headquarters, which could include an hotel and housing, are expected to be released next week.
Plans for the 158-year-old St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury include a new stand, a media centre and hotel. Homes facing Old Dover Road could also be built and may be used to offset the cost of the other work.
Chief executive Paul Millman said the plans were identical to proposals mooted by the club three years ago as part of a 10-year vision for cricket in the county.
Mr Millman declined to give dates for the work to start and said he would be briefing cricket journalists next Thursday.
But he added: "The plans are a comprehensive ground development programme. For example, we have plans for the Frank Woolley stand, which can a get a bit draughty."
The club is also looking to award ground-naming rights for St Lawrence to a major sponsor.
