MASSIVE opposition failed to stop Kent County Cricket Club gaining a music and entertainment licence for its St Lawrence ground.
Members of the city council’s licensing committee agreed that the club could host 20 events a year which will have to end by 10.30pm with alcohol not served after 11pm.
The licensing committee also ruled that these events must be connected to cricket matches taking place at the ground.
If the club wanted to hold another Elton John-style concert it must apply to the council for a separate one-off licence.
The council had received almost 120 objections after the club originally applied for a licence to allow functions to last until 2.30am.
