Kent head coach Matt Walker has confirmed Sam Billings is in line to make his first appearance of the season at Glamorgan on Thursday.
The captain has spent the last two months plying his trade with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, going for a duck in his sole outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He is now due to return in time to help Kent in their bid to avoid losing their fifth straight game in this year's Royal London One-Day Cup.
Match report: Kent winless in last four games following defeat to Gloucestershire
Walker stated: "Sam (Billings) will be back on Thursday, he'll fly in on Wednesday hopefully to play against Glamorgan so that's a really nice boost to have another player back.
"The injury crisis that has hit us is ridiculous really, we can't do much about it. We just have to grit our teeth and get through it, we're playing with one arm tied behind our back at the moment.
"I don't want to make excuses but the facts are there for everybody to see. We've got 13 fit people on the staff at the moment, we've got nine injuries."
The wait to see skipper Billings and his deputy Joe Denly take to the field together could well be put on hold following the latter's injury during Tuesday's six-wicket defeat to Gloucestershire.
Denly, on his first outing since returning from the IPL, suffered a back spasm amid a batting session that saw him reach 56 from 69 balls as Kent's second highest scorer behind Zak Crawley (85).
Beyond Thursday's contest, Kent are scheduled to host Pakistan in a Tour Match on Saturday.
