Kent skipper Sam Billings had mixed fortunes on his return to England’s One-Day squad in their three-match series in Australia.
The 31-year-old’s best performance amid a disappointing series, which England lost 3-0 on the back of having won the T20 World Cup, came in the second game over the weekend in Sydney.
He top-scored with an 80-ball 71 as England fell 72 runs short of the hosts’ total of 280-8. The wicketkeeper also stumped counterpart Alex Carey when in the field.
In the final game of their series on Tuesday morning in Melbourne, he was caught and bowled by Australian skipper Pat Cummins having been caught by Carey off the same bowler for 17 in the first match in Adelaide during a six-wicket loss.
Pembury-born Billings will play for Brisbane Heat in this year's T20 Big Bash League.
He could come up against Kent team-mate Zak Crawley in the competition, with the batsman poised to make his overseas franchise league debut having joined the Hobart Hurricanes after being named as an international replacement player.
