Kent Cricket's Sam Northeast admits the Spitfires face a challenge to be ready for their NatWest T20 Blast campaign

Sam Northeast says Kent players face a challenge to prepare themselves for the start of their NatWest T20 Blast campaign so soon after the end of their last Championship game.
With the heavy defeat at Gloucestershire only sealed on Wednesday afternoon, Kent face their first t20 clash of the summer at Taunton on Friday night, before their next Championship game gets underway at Tunbridge Wells on Sunday.
Northeast said: “The t20s is going to be interesting – playing a game straight after a four-day game. We’re going to have to try our best to get up for it and get our one-day skills honed before then.
“It’s not going to be easy but we’ll do our best and hopefully we can do it. It’s going to be an interesting schedule.”
Assistant coach Matt Walker called the visit to Somerset a ‘good distraction,’ adding: “We’re looking foward to it.
“The first game and the chaos and circus of t20 is always exciting. It would be nice to get off to a good start. Somerset are a good one-day side and sure to be one of the favourites.
“It will be tough and we’ll have to play well but it gives us a break from Championship games and frees us up to express and enjoy ourselves.
“Hopefully, we can start with a bang. It would be nice to get on a roll as the games are coming thick and fast.”
In-form Worcester will visit Tunbridge Wells on Sunday, seeking to complete an early-season double over Kent, following the opening day 125-run win at New Road.
Walker added: “We look back on the first game with frustration. We had an opportunity to win that game. To say we’re after revenge is a bit drastic but we’re looking to get a win under our belts.”
