Andy Pratt says there is more to come from Canterbury Rugby Club, despite them boosting their National 2 South survival hopes with a second straight win over a top team.

Saturday’s 19-12 success at Bishop’s Stortford – their first away win of the season and the second straight week they had beaten the team sat third in the table – lifted the city club 12th and five points clear of the drop-zone.

Head coach Pratt admitted: “We were in a perilous position and it’s pleasing to have picked up the two wins but we have got to keep going.

“You feel the pressure but it’s important to maintain a steady, calm hand under pressure.
“It’s important not to overreact whether you lose or win and I’ve said that to the players.”

Redruth head to Merton Lane from Cornwall on Saturday (3pm) with just one away win and Pratt added: “We said that big wins would have an impact on the young players and confidence and give us the belief that we can beat big teams like Redruth.

“It’s a step forward and having momentum is huge. It’s the first time we have put together back-to-back victories.

“Hopefully we can turn it into a winning run. Saturday was good but we still have more to give.”
