Kent Cricket chairman George Kennedy has confirmed that the county have signed highly-rated South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada.
The chairman broke the news on social media posting a picture of himself shaking hands with the 20-year-old from Johannesburg.
His post said: "Look who we are bringing back from SA now signed and sealed for Kent Wed at 6pm.”
The club have yet to confirm details of the length of Rabada's stay, or when it will start, but it is believed it will only be a short term deal.
Earlier this week the county denied reports, that a deal had already been completed.
A story run by MailOnline on Sunday suggested Kent had beaten off competition from rivals, including Durham, to sign Rabada, who took 13 England wickets to spearhead South Africa’s victory in the final Test in Centurion last month.
The article suggested Rabada would be heading to Canterbury on a six-week deal at the start of the season.
However, Kent claimed there were factual inaccuracies in the reports with chief executive Jamie Clifford adding: “We are one of a number of teams interested in signing a player of his undoubted quality.”
South Africa are due to play a tri-series competition against the West Indies and Australia in June, so any county deal would have to be sanctioned by Cricket South Africa.
