Canterbury’s Harry Sayers has won a place in the England Counties under-20 rugby squad which will tour Russia in June.
The 19-year-old wing or centre is Kent’s only representative in the 23-strong touring party which plays two games against Russia’s under-20s on June 5 and 8.
Before that, the University of Kent student, has a date at Twickenham on Sunday with the senior Kent side in the final of County Championship Plate.
It has been a swift rise for a young player who is in his first season with Canterbury after joining the club from Dover.
Sayers is one of six Canterbury players in the Kent squad which will face East Midlands at Twickenham.
He and fellow back Aiden Moss are in the starting line-up together with forwards Jim Green, Royce Cadman and Max Cantwell. Hooker Neil Wakefield is one of the seven bench replacements.
The game, which has a 10am kick-off, will be one of the curtain raisers before the England v Wales international.
Kent reached the final with a 29-8 victory over Devon on Saturday at the Medway club with Aiden Moss scoring two of the county side’s four tries.
The win not only secured a place in the final for Kent but won promotion to Division 1 of the Bill Beaumont Cup competition next season.
