Success for ski girls in national competition
00:00, 28 November 2002
THE girls’ ski team from Simon Langton Girls’ School at Canterbury have finished third in the British Schools final in Edinburgh.
The girls had qualified for the national final from regional races at Chatham and the England finals at Swadlincote.
The team of Charlotte Owen, sisters Alice Limb and Emily Limb, and Rachael Underwood fought off strong competition on a course longer than most dry slopes and very much steeper.
Part of the course is known as "the wall" because it is so steep to negotiate. All four have been selected for the English Schools Ski Squad and will be training in Norway with them in February.
Charlotte is in a squad of five chosen to represent the English Schools Senior team at the ISF World Schools Championships in Schladming, Austria, in March.
