Motorists were stuck in queues of up to 10 miles after another accident near the Queen Elizabeth Bridge at Dartford.
Traffic began to build after a crash at 6am on the clockwise carriageway, which blocked the M25 on the Kent side until 6.20am.
The queues continued to build, reaching 10 mile jams at one point.
There was also four miles of queuing traffic on the M25 anticlockwise at the Dartford Tunnel, with congestion to Junction 3 (M20/A20 Swanley Interchange).
Queues grew since the accident on the opposite carriageway at 6am. There was a brief tunnel closure just before 7am and then another accident in those queues.
It continues a week of misery for motorists with numerous incidents at the crossing.
