Armed police stormed a street in Dartford following reports of a "man with a gun".
Officers were called to the incident in Hilltop Gardens in the Temple Hill area earlier which saw a mass of people flee a property.
The road was shut off shortly before 10.30am whilst officers attended the block of flats.
An armed response team was spotted by residents, who were blocked access to their homes, conducting a sweep of a block of flats.
Access to the shops on Temple Hill Square and other adjoining streets was also restricted.
Dartford resident Samantha Weeks, was returning home in her car when she witnessed people running out of the building.
She said: "I spoke with the officer there and was told there had been a call of a man with a gun.
"They had to block off the roads because they were unsure if the guy was still in the building or had ran out."
Following a search of the property police recovered an imitation firearm. They say no offences were identified.
