An eight-year-old has gone above and beyond to support a charity.

Harry Owen, from Dartford, donated his shoulder-length hair to the Little Princess Trust and raised £660 for the organisation.

The trust provides free real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Harry decided 18 months ago that he wanted to grow his hair out and donate the locks to "the poorly children."

His mum Charlotte said: "Harry has rarely complained about his hair being long and has always had so many lovely compliments from strangers telling him how lovely his hair is.

"But now it has been cut and donated he is just as happy with his new look – we have received so many messages of love and support and how kind Harry is for doing such a lovely thing."

He had his hair cut by Mem from Memz Barbers in Dartford High Street, who has been cutting Harry's hair since he was young.

"I am incredibly proud of him, he has always been so kind and gentle and always thinks of others," added Charlotte.

"As a parent I cannot quite explain in words how proud I am, I love him dearly and this proves that my hard work as a single mum has paid off, what more could you ask for from your child?"
