One lane of the London-bound carriageway of the M20 was closed after a car crashed into the central reservation.
The accident happened between junctions 3 and 2 at around 6.30am this morning where it joins the M25 and caused huge delays.
Police officers and a Highways England patrol attended.
A police spokesman said no injuries had been reported.
Highways England said early reports were that the car was stranded in the outside lane facing the wrong way.
The lane closure has since been removed and traffic is starting to clear.
A Highways England spokesman said: "With assistance from our colleagues at @kentpoliceroads the car that struck the central reservation and ended up facing the wrong way in the outside lane has been cleared.
"There was a brief stop on traffic to do this but all lanes are now clear and traffic released. No delays."
