Construction is under way on hundreds more homes in phase two of the Ebbsfleet Cross scheme at Swanscombe.

Part of Ebbsfleet Garden City, a total of 233 homes are being built in the second phase of Ebbsfleet Cross, which is transforming the former Croxton and Garry Quarry site off Tiltman Avenue.

Bellway Homes say there will be 163 properties for private sale and 70 affordable homes, comprising 37 for shared ownership and 33 for affordable rent.

Once completed, Ebbsfleet Cross will comprise a total of 333 homes.

Almost all of the 100 homes in phase one of the development, which has been built on neighbouring land off Craylands Lane, have now been sold, with just three properties remaining for sale.

Bellway has now released the first selection of properties onto the market within the second phase – and buyers have already snapped up 15 of the 22 homes available.

Emma Hamlett, Sales Director at Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “The demand that we have witnessed for homes in the first phase at Ebbsfleet Cross has carried over to the second, with appointments booked in just minutes for the opening weekend, clearly demonstrating that the development is meeting the needs of housebuyers in the area.

“Situated just south of the River Thames, the development is proving particularly popular with first-time buyers. Many apartments at Ebbsfleet Cross at Garden City are priced below the Help to Buy regional cap and are therefore eligible for the Government scheme.

“The excellent transport links are also a major draw for commuters. Ebbsfleet Cross is just two miles from Ebbsfleet International station which has direct services to central London in 20 minutes, making it ideal for those who work in the capital.

“The wider Ebbsfleet Valley area is undergoing a major regeneration which is already beginning to create an appealing and desirable neighbourhood. The 333 homes that we are delivering at Ebbsfleet Cross is making a significant contribution to this transformation.

“With many of the first selection of properties already sold off plan, we will be releasing more homes onto the market for house-hunters keen to be part of the area’s regeneration. We are expecting homes at the development to be purchased quickly, so we would advise people to register their interest with our sales team.”

The Help to Buy scheme enables first-time buyers in the South East to secure a new-build home worth up to £437,600 with a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage. The remaining 20 per cent is provided in the form of a Government-backed equity loan which is interest free for the first five years.
